| FOUNDER + CINEMATOGRAPHER + EDITOR
Neu Productions founder John Roderick cut his teeth in the world of adventure sports and culture as a director, cinematographer and editor, crafting eye opening story and imagery from some of todays most celebrated adventure sports athletes, musicians and brands alike. Much of John’s work today bridges across commercial, documentaries and a number of reality television series serving as director of photography and principal editor.
Born in the small mill town of Rumford, Maine, John dropped out of high school and caught a Greyhound west to the mountains of Colorado in the late 90’s to pursue his passion for snowboarding. It was this backdrop that inspired him to reach for a Arriflex 16mm film camera to capture the many intrepid people and places within the action & adventure sports community. Later crossing John’s career as an adventure filmmaker came the calling from close friend, musician and social activist Michael Franti & Spearhead, which the two collaborate closely with to create films and music videos that highlight the message of ordinary people, doing extraordinary things to change the world.
John holds feature film lighting and master cinematography certificates under the mentorship of cinematographer Russel Carpenter (Titanic, Avatar 2&3, Charlie’s Angels) and lighting gaffer Morris Flam (The Tourist, Black Swan, Cold Mountain).
